tips for CLEANING OUT YOUR WARDROBE

The changing seasons is a great time for a wardrobe refresh, but what do you do with all those clothes you no longer wear?

Selling at the Love Me Again Market is a great way to declutter, earn some extra cash and find a new home for your pre-loved items!

We’ve rounded up our essential tips to clean out your wardrobe and help you set up a market stall…

1. Start with a Plan

Before you dive headfirst into your closet, take a moment to strategise.

Set a date for your market sale, so you have a clear goal to work towards – click here to book a stall for your preferred date and location.

Create a checklist of tasks, including sorting items, cleaning, pricing, and organising your display.

2. Sort Smartly

Begin by categorising your clothes. Separate items into piles: keep, sell, donate, and discard. Be ruthless in your decision making. If you haven't worn an item in the last year, it's time to part ways.

Next, count how many items you have. Your stall includes 2 x racks and a tray. Follow the below as a guideline for how many items will fit on each.

1.6m heavy duty retail rack:

- 40 - 50 longer items like dresses, coats

1.2m heavy duty shelving and rack unit:

- 20 - 30 shorter items like shirts or jackets

- 5 - 10 pairs of shoes

- Display bags

Jewellery tray:

- Fits 10 - 15 earrings, necklaces, sunglasses

3. Clean and Repair

Ensure all items are clean and in great condition. Wash or dry clean your clothes and make minor repairs such as sewing loose buttons.

Presenting clean and well-maintained items increases their appeal to potential buyers.

Remember when packing them in suitcases or storage boxes to bring to the markets, that you lie them in a way that doesn’t wrinkle them too much.

4. Price Your Items

Consider the brand, condition, and original price when setting your prices.

Keep in mind that buyers at a market sale are looking for a bargain, so be willing to negotiate.

We find that items in the $20 - $100 range sell the best however designer items can sell for much more.

5. Print Signage

We have a range of printable PDFs you can download and print to display at your market stall.

This helps guide shoppers on sizing and pricing and also lets you display bank details etc. Click here to view and print the signs you need.

6. Presentation Matters

We find that organising clothes by type makes it easy for shoppers to browse – all dresses together, all shirts together, etc.

Remember to not overpack your stall – if customers can’t move items around, they will by-pass the stall.

A clean, visually appealing display will draw more attention to your stall.

7. Share on Social Media

Our shoppers love seeing seller’s Instagram stories with sneak peeks in the lead up to events. Share and tag us in your stories @lovemeagainmarket.

Nicely presented high-quality photos and videos of some of your best items will entice potential buyers.

Include essential details such as sizes and brands to generate interest.

Happy decluttering and selling!
